Seb Michaud Invitaçion in Argentina 2011
The troop of 12 invited riders on the 3rd Seb Michaud Invitaçion experienced 10 days of anthology, in total immersion in the Andes mountain range in Argentina. The “Valle Hermoso” turned out to be a strategic choice as much for the snow conditions as for the filming of high-powered freeride skiing.
The challenge of bringing together 10 of the finest freerider in the world for a unique, independent trip is just one example of the challenges that Seb Michaud and his team relish.
“This third edition required some damned tricky logistics. To camp for ten days at -20° and sometimes in a storm to be at the heart of what I call freeride country is not exactly a walk in the park, but that’s part of the spirit that I wanted to instill into this event.
During the trip, the riders forget the wintry conditions and the stress of setting off. The return to nature, far from all technologies, gives us an incredible energy. I’m not looking for an extreme project that consumes our lives, but simply means of sharing our passion for skiing.
The snow-bikes are essential tools for this kind of filmed adventure; it’s crucial to be able to get everyone around in the terrain involved, and to make sure everyone is safe as well as safeguarding the filming.
Waking up under 50 cm of fresh snow in the middle of nowhere is a unique experience that you don’t get to enjoy every day. The atmosphere was fantastic, and riding in the fresh snow after having parked up our skis 5 months ago was magical” explains Seb Michaud.
