The GORE-TEX® brand celebrates its 40th anniversary at the European Outdoor Film Tour (E.O.F.T.)

There are no safety nets when climbers scale sheer rock face, and no pause button when steep skiing specialists navigate near vertical slopes: when the European Outdoor Film Tour 2016/17 (E.O.F.T.) has its premiere in Munich on October 5, millions of outdoor enthusiasts in 15 European countries will be on the edge of their seats as E.O.F.T. athletes launch themselves into adrenaline-powered adventures.

The GORE-TEX® brand is at home where the great outdoors comes together with powerful emotions. This year the brand celebrates its 40th anniversary. For as many years it has been providing extreme sports personalities and outdoor enthusiasts with high-performing products and technical innovations. With the start of the E.O.F.T, Gore launches the #GORETEX40 campaign, a social media and retail driven promotion, where outdoor enthusiasts can upload their adventures and win special prizes from October to December 2016.

In 2016/17 a very special extreme sports athlete is at the focus of the E.O.F.T. Exceptionally talented David Lama Expedition_Lunag Ri_kleinclimber and GORE-TEX® athlete David Lama is the key visual of this year’s film tour. Never before has an athlete been so closely followed by the E.O.F.T. The climbing prodigy first enthralled film audiences during the 2003/04 tour. In the following years the E.O.F.T. documented his key career moments in many inspiring short films. As the first expedition ever, he and his American climbing partner Conrad Anker attempt to reach the headwall of Lunag Ri, a formidable 6,907 m high Himalayan peak. At the same time, the son of an Austrian mother and a Nepalese father returns to his routes.

The GORE-TEX® brand partnered Europe’s largest outdoor film festival right from the start: a successful working relationship that is set to continue for the next five years.
