The GORE-TEX Freeride Challenge: Seb Michauds INVITACION 2011 in Argentina

The GORE-TEX Freeride Challenge 2011

21 AUGUST – 3 SEPTEMBER 2011
Valle Hermoso 2011 will mark the start of the “Seb Michaud Invitacion III”

After Chile in 2010, Seb and his friends will be returning to the “Argentinian Gauchos”. The base camp will set its sights a little higher this year, pitching at 2,200 metres near the small lake in the Valle Hermoso. A few changes to the riders this year, with 4 girls and 2 boys from the Freeride World Tour joining the existing team. Damian, the winner of the GORE-TEX Freeride Challenge competition on Facebook, will have an opportunity to take part in this 3rd outing.

“It’s 3 years already since we came up with this adventure, that has now become a fixture when everyone else is in their shorts and we’re putting skis on. It’s 3 years already since we first set off camping in the middle of nowhere, just for the sheer pleasure of throwing ourselves into the Andes and bringing you the most stunning pictures! It’s 3 years now since the freeride spirit has danced around the campfire with people I love. 3 years already, and yet so many slopes to ski!” says Seb Michaud.

12 international riders for a meeting that is the only one of its kind
A self-sufficient “campo” for a truly “freeride” immersion in a breathtaking arena.

The riders:
An international list of riders will join this third expedition. People from the world of freeriding across the globe, but also Seb’s friends whom he has met over the course of his varied career. Sharing the same vision of the “trip” in a mountain setting and ambience remains the common them for this unusual adventure.

Seb Michaud, Jérémie Heitz, Enak Gavaggio, Jérémy Prévost, Laurent Niol, Eva Walkner, Thomas Diet, Pia Widmesser, Marion Pariset, Mathieu Imbert, Ane Enderud, Damian Camathias….

A place …
Always on the lookout for new playgrounds, MI3 is heading to Argentina for a journey into the dizzying heights of the Andes.

Renowned for its high peaks, this part of the Andes range is an important place for free-riding in the southern hemisphere.

Lost in the Matensila massif, 2,200 metres above sea level and only accessible via cross-country skis or snowmobiles, our “campo” will be set up amongst the stunning scenery of the Laguna (lake) de Valle Hermoso. 8 days under canvas in an area untouched by human hands.
