GORE-TEX brand to support mountain triathlon in Spain

Gore has signed a sponsorship agreement with the mountaineering club Peña Guara de Huesca to sponsor TRI-NEU GORE-TEX, and a cooperation agreement with the triathlon club from Andorra Club Triatló Serradells de Canillo.

On April 15th the first mountain triathlon TRI-NEU GORE-TEX will take place in the Benasque-Cerler Valley. The goal of this competition is to become a reference based on the novelty of its events and the beauty of the surrounding landscape. Fully committed to outdoor sports, GORE-TEX brand will support this event from its first edition to guarantee its success. And this race will become part of the TRI-NEU events (a name that refers to mountain or winter triathlons).

The triathlon will start with a Mountain Bike race: 15 kilometers with an elevation gain of 650m along different mountain trails, some of which are quite technical. Secondly, participants will have to run 4 km from Benasque to the ski resort of Cerler (elevation gain: 395m). Lastly, they will have to ski tour 5,4 kilometers (elevation gain: 730m) from Cerler to Collado de Ampriú (2,258m). And they will end with a smooth slope down to the finish line in Llano del Ampriú.

Competitors can enter as relay teams or as individuals. Relay teams are made up of three members, each one of whom has to complete one of the events in the race. There will be a Men’s and Women’s classification for both categories.

Another attraction of this triathlon is the prizes awarded to the winners and competitors. The sports gear that will be given as prizes is valued at approximately  €4,000.

Prior to the Benasque Triathlon, GORE-TEX brand will support another event on March 18th: the TRI-NEU Canillo (Andorra), whose first edition was last year. As the Benasque event, it will include the following categories: Men’s, Women’s, Men’s Teams, Women’s Teams and Mixed Teams. In this event participants have to run 5 kilometres, ride their bikes for 8 kilometres and do some ski touring (500m elevation gain). Agustí Roc and Pau Zamora are some of the athletes who will compete in this event.
