Running Camp with Markus Torgeby part of the GORE-TEX Experience Tour
Four days of running and well-being with Markus Torgeby in the mountains of Jämtland, northern Sweden. This is what’s on the agenda when Gore provides yet another adventure as part of its GORE-TEX Experience Tour that now also has its own website.
On May 31– June 3 Markus Torgeby will be opening his mountain lodge in Jämtland to five running enthusiasts. Running and well-being are on the schedule, and places for this running camp can be won via the new website. All projects within GORE-TEX Experience Tour can now be found on the website.
The four days will be packed with running, but as well as sharing his best running tips, Markus Torgeby will also inspire participants to a life in harmony with themselves and nature. The mountain lodge in Jämtland is pleasant and genuine, but is of a basic standard. For example, there’s no electricity.
When the four days are over, someone will be chosen to accompany Markus Torgeby on one of the stretches of his summer expedition, ‘Running the Swedish Mountains’, 1,300 km in 30 days. The expedition will start at Treriksröset – the point where the borders of Sweden, Norway and Finland meet – at the end of July 2012.
Markus Torgeby began running as a 10-year-old and his passion has never wavered. He is a true connoisseur of the art of living, and has long devoted himself to a very simple way of life. The Swedish film entitled Löparen (The Runner) depicts a period in Markus Torgeby’s life when he lived in a Lapp tent known as a ‘cot’ for several years. He regularly lectures, organises training camps, is an ambassador for the AXA Fjällmaraton trail running competition, and also races. Markus also writes a blog for the magazine Runner’s World.
The GORE-TEX Experience Tour began in autumn 2010, and is a European project based on several different outdoor activities, competitions and events across Europe. In Sweden, for example, the Outdoor Photo Contest was held in autumn 2010. In March 2012, the event Freeride Camp was held in Romsdalen, Norway. Ski enthusiasts from all over Europe participated in that camp.
