“Sigun’exchange”: Christophe Dumarest’s account

The first ever expedition of its kind, with French and Chinese mountaineers, organised by the GORE-TEX Experience Tour. 18 days of top level mountaineering in the Siguniang Shan mountains (China), in the company of Chinese and French mountaineers, including Christophe Dumarest of Team GORE-TEX – – this was the opportunity offered to Maris Rozenblats, from Latvia, the lucky winner of the selection process organised by GORE-TEX through the www.experience-tour.com website. The expedition in the mountainous regions of China’s interior has just come to an end. Christophe Dumarest gives his first impressions: “The Sigun’Exchange expedition, organised by the Groupe Haute Montagne (GHM – High Mountain Group) and supported by GORE-TEX (Gore Experience Tour) has concluded. Japanese Mountain Climber Scales World’s Tallest Mountains with Support from Gore

It’s estimated that only around 3,000 people have ever successfully scaled Mt. Everest, the world’s tallest mountain. Japanese mountain climber Hirotaka Takeuchi is among them. But he didn’t stop there. Earlier this year, he became the first Japanese mountain climber to scale the world’s 14 tallest mountains, each one greater than 8,000 meters tall, or between 26,000 and 29,000 feet. It‘s just human nature that wants to explore – GORE-TEX brand and Mammut present: European Outdoor Film Tour 12/13

The European Outdoor Film Tour (E.O.F.T.) is the biggest film event for the European outdoor community. For over eleven years the E.O.F.T features the most exciting outdoor sports film and adventure documentaries. The event is presented by the GORE-TEX brand and Mammut and was launched as a coproduction with Moving Adventures Medien GmbH by that time. The current tour includes 8 clips and documentaries resulting in 120 minutes of breathtaking and fascinating footage that for sure will catch everybody’s attention. This year’s focus will be on Alpine Climbing, Slacklining, Wingsuit Flying, Mountain Biking and Snowboarding. In addition, during this year’s E.O.F.T. a portrait of Caja Schöpf will be shown. Colorado – August 23, 2012 – The GORE-TEX TransRockies Run, one of the United States’ most storied trail races, concluded Sunday in Beaver Creek, Colo. after six days, 120 miles, and 20,000 feet of climbing. The race took runners through the Colorado Rockies, starting in Buena Vista and visiting historic Colorado sites like Leadville, Camp Hale, Red Cliff, and Vail. Legions of volunteers, the TransRockies race organization, and presenting sponsor, GORE-TEX, provided over 300 runners with the experience of a lifetime. The GORE-TEX TransRockies Run is often called “summer camp for adults” and the 2012 edition was no exception. read more »
