W. L. Gore & Associates GmbH celebrated a notable success at the ‘2012 Best Workplaces in Germany’ competition. The German subsidiary of the American technology-driven company was honoured twice for its special qualities and attractiveness as an employer: it was ranked 3rd in the medium-sized companies category (501 – 2,000 employees) and was awarded a special prize for its ‘Demography Conscious HR Management’.

This impressive result has meant that the German subsidiary of Gore has continued in its tradition of being repeatedly listed among the best places to work in Germany. It has now been listed in Germany for the tenth year running.

For the extensive range of initiatives it offers its older employees Gore was awarded the special prize given
by ddn (The Demography Network), the Bertelsmann Foundation and the Great Place to Work® Institute in Germany. The prize was awarded for the first time this year. Within the framework of the company’s Silver Revolution project older employees are given help to prepare themselves for the post employment phase of their lives and supported with workplace concepts that cater to the needs of older people. A special knowledge transfer process has also been set up to ensure that the experience these employees have built up over the years is transferred to younger employees.

“We are proud to have received this double recognition because it demonstrates how important recognition and esteem, having fun at work, and the relaxed relationships we all have with one another are for us at Gore,” comments Eduard Klein, member of the management team at Gore GmbH.

This year a total of 406 companies entered the competition. They represented all sectors of industry and all sizes of company. The internationally acclaimed competition is run by the Great Place to Work® Institute in Germany. Around 100,000 employees of these companies were questioned for the survey.
