GORE-TEX JOB in Space cleans up at iF3 Montreal and Annecy

Innsbruck, 01.10.12 – The team behind Europeʼs newest freeski movie production Junkies On a Budget were gobsmacked by the results of the latest International Freeski Film Festival (iF3) in Montreal and Annecy. Not only did their first ever movie project, GORE-TEX JOB In Space presented by Marker Völkl, get nominated for five different awards at iF3 along with the top dogs in the professional category, it won two awards; the Juryʼs “Coup de Coeur” in Montreal and “Best European Movie” at the iF3 in Annecy!

The rapid increase in popularity of freeskiing has seen an equally impressive growth in the freeski filmmaking scene. Starting a new ski movie production company these days – especially one with a completely different approach and method – is never easy. Accordingly, those involved, while still having high aspirations, usually set their expectations low for the first year or two. As did the team behind Junkies On a Budget after their first ever submission to the International Freeski Film Festival. They were more than pleasantly surprised by the movieʼs five nominations in the professional category of iF3, they were gobsmacked!

GORE-TEX JOB In Space presented by Marker Völkl is the first movie they have ever produced with their unique approach to freeski film making. The movie was nominated for “Best Cinematography”, “Best Editing”, “Best Storytelling” and Juryʼs “Coup de Coeur” at the iF3 in Montreal as well as “Best European Movie” at the iF3 in Annecy. Winning the Juryʼs “Coup de Coeur” – the Judges Favorite award – was already an achievement far beyond expectation. The Coup de Coeur award is a huge honor” said Executive Producer Jan Schoettler. “The award fits perfectly to the movie as it has quite a different approach to other movies, it’s great top know that people appreciated the unique concept”. Then two weeks later the movie also won the “Best European Movie” award, confirming that the Junkies can even compete with the big dogs. This honor was celebrated far into the night by all that were involved.

The Junkies On a Budget project included so many people it is difficult to thank them all. However the JOB team would like to do a massive shout out and thank you to all the different crews involved: Team We Make Them Wonder, Team Winter Project, Team Daniel Seideneder, Team Vecom Video and Team Aestivation Entertainment, as well as the sponsors and especially Clemens Purner and Wildruf Media Collective.

The final iF3 of 2012 is happening in just a few days on the 5th and 6th of October in Innsbruck which, along with screenings of all the other international films, also hosts the big finale of the JOB Premier Tour on Saturday night at the 7:30 p.m. There you will not only finally be able to see the full movie in all its glory but also witness the announcement of the Junkies On a Budget overall segment winners, voted on by the viewers, who get a BMW X1 for six months to cruise around in.
