Whether one prefers skiing, trail-running or climbing – the GORE-TEX
Experience Tour offers adventures for all tastes and the successful events are going to be continued. Here is a round-up of the 13 projects that have already taken place.
Many outdoor fans want to keep their impressions not only in their memories but also in living pictures. The GORE-TEX® Experience Tour gives four applicants the chance to learn techniques for shooting outdoor films from experts of the European Outdoor Film School. Take your chance and apply via the website until November 30th.
For fans only – fan meeting at the International Mountain Summit (22.10.-24.10.2011)
Real outdoor enthusiasts can never get enough. To strengthen the exchange between outdoor fans and experts, the GORE-TEX® Experience Tour sent 20 applicants to the International Mountain Summit 2011 in Brixen, Italy. They had the chance to meet extreme mountaineers Stefan Glowacz and Edurne Pasaban, who shared their knowledge and valuable tips.
Women only – sharing tips and tricks with Edurne Pasaban (14.10.-17.10.2011)
An adventure of the GORE-TEX® Experience Tour Projects – exclusively for female outdoor enthusiasts – took place in Spain in October 2011. Edurne Pasaban, expert mountaineer and one of few women to climb all 8,000 peaks guided the female winners from four different countries to the top of the Aneto – the highest mountain in the Spanish Pyrenees.
Discover unexplored routes in Arctic Norway – with Dave MacLeod (13.08.-27.08.2011)
Unexpected and amazing success was granted for applicant Julia Snihur at the
GORE-TEX® Experience Tour, as they were the first to climb the Bongo Bar on the Norwegian Blåmann. Instructed by Dave MacLeod, a world famous extreme climber, they established a new free climbing route on one of Europe’s steepest granite walls.
Run up and down – European Trail Run Camp in the Dolomites (21.07.-24.07.2011)
Prior to the GORE-TEX® Transalpine Run, the GORE-TEX® Experience Tour sent 20 ambitious runners from all over Europe to the European Trail Run Camp in the Dolomites. Top runner Lizzie Hawker from the UK was there and gave them first hand information. 10 participants also took part in the GORE-TEX® Transalpine Run 2011.
Test your skills – Expedition Camp in the Alps with Ralf Dujmovitz (10.06.-14.06.2011)
The dream of climbing the peaks of the highest mountains often turns out to be unfulfillable since those tours require advanced skills. The GORE-TEX® Experience Tour trained eight outdoor fans, guided by Ralf Dujmovits, in a simulation of a Himalaya tour to test their skills during an expedition camp in the Stubai Alps. Ralf Dujmovits was the first German to climb all 8.000er peaks.
Realize your outdoor dream – climbing with Robert Jasper (06.05.2011)
The attempt of climbing the Matterhorn in winter and the ascent of the Breithorn together with top mountaineer Robert Jasper was definitely a unique experience for GORE-TEX® Experience Tour winner David Bouskila.
Mastering the Nordic Wilderness – extraordinary shooting with Dan Kullberg (14.04.-17.04.2011)
The participants, all of them passionate photographers, were eager to catch the Nordic light in all its beauty. The magic month of April took the lucky winners to Lapland, where they experienced an extraordinary photo session with Dan Kullberg, one of Scandinavia’s best outdoor and travel photographers.
Design your very own trekking boots – with the GORE-TEX® brand and La Sportiva (28.03.-29.03.2011)
At the shoe workshop with La Sportiva, the participants of the GORE-TEX® Experience Tour created their own trekking shoes with a GORE-TEX® membrane. This exclusive workshop took place at the main manufacture in Val Di Fiemme, Italy.
Build your own jacket – with the GORE-TEX® brand and Mammut (14.03.-15.03.2011)
In order for participants to get a better impression of what lies behind high quality outdoor clothing, the GORE-TEX® Experience Tour, in cooperation with Mammut, gave three applicants the opportunity to design and create their own individual outdoor jacket.
Do it yourself – build your own Meindl trekking shoe (20.02.-22.02.2011)
Together with outdoor shoe expert Meindl, the GORE-TEX® Experience Tour launched a project offering six outdoor fans the chance to build their own Meindl “Island” trekking shoes.
From Aviemore to Knodyart – or: from Loch Heaven to Loch Hell (26.10.-02.11.2010)
Keith Ruffles and James MacKeddie went together with outdoor expert Cameron McNeish to Knodyart, Scotland, to explore the United Kingdom’s most remote region, making their way from the Loch of Heaven (Loch Nevis) to the Loch of Hell (Loch Hourn).
The adventure began – in the footsteps of Ines Papert (21.10.-26.10.2010)
This first project of the GORE-TEX® Experience Tour led winner Sabine Bruckmaier, accompanied by top climber Ines Papert, to Mount Kyzyl Asker in Kyrgysztan. Sabine’s proud words: “I’ve never been so high up in my life.”
