20th GORE-TEX GRAND RAID: Appointment with the legends of freeriding!

GORE-TEX GRAND RAID 2011The 20th GORE-TEX GRAND RAID has a historic finish in store: all the winners, figures and legends who have made the GORE-TEX GRAND RAID what it is today, one of the most popular freeriding competitions in France, will be honouring the event with their presence.

Since 1992, the GORE-TEX Grand Raid has brought together lovers of skiing and powder-skiing enthusiasts, amateurs or professionals, to share thrilling, high-adrenaline moments in some of the most beautiful locations in France.

A freeriding experience for teams of 2, combining skiing, telemarking and snowboarding, the GORE-TEX Grand Raid allows all skiing styles and rejects all boundaries between disciplines. Men, women and children: Freeriding has no gender or age restrictions.

Unknown competitors can give it their all alongside the legends of freeriding, simply, accessibly and without ever losing their desire to compete.

Because the GORE-TEX GRAND RAID is also about giving your best and competing against the best riders on the planet.

For Hervé Favre, who created the event and founded the Evolution 2 ski and adventure school, “this is an event that combines many different values: Off-piste skiing, freedom, nature, physical commitment, team racing, atmosphere, sharing… a serious event that doesn’t take itself seriously. A reflection of the Evolution 2-GORE-TEX team who organise it.”

The 2011 edition will include four stages. Young skiers will not be forgotten, with a day planned specifically for them in Rosière. “Big” riders will have two days in which to compete (in Avoriaz and Val d’Isère) and win places in the MASTER competition, which can already be defined as EXCEPTIONAL.
