Once upon a climb: Fans meet Edurne Pasaban and Stefan Glowacz at the International Moutain Summit 2011

Within this year’s International Mountain Summit (IMS) in Brixen, Italy, the GORE-TEX Experience Tour offered 20 lucky participants from 22nd to 24th October, 2011, the unique opportunity to meet their idols in person. Mountaineering professionals Edurne Pasaban and Stefan Glowacz shared their experience and personal advice exclusively with the winners.

The latest GORE-TEX Experience Tour in Brixen, Italy, featured the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for all outdoor-fans to meet the real professionals. 20 lucky winners travelled to this year’s IMS and experienced three days full of thrilling conversations, discussions and activities round and about the Summit. After enjoying Chris Sharma’s stirring Summit lecture about ‘Living the dream’, all participants spent the evening listening to Stefan Glowacz talk about his recent book ‘Expeditionen’ – followed by a question and answer session.

The next day, the participants were spoilt for choice: the agenda offered either a walk’n’talk with Edurne Pasaban, one of the few women who climbed all fourteen eight-thousanders, or a hike with Stefan Glowacz to ‘Königsanger’, a peak nearby. In the end, everyone spent a memorable day. After all, Stefan and Edurne took plenty of time to talk to the participants and answer all their questions while enjoying a dinner with the participants. The icing on the cake was a presentation by Edurne Pasaban, during which she described impressively the risks and efforts a woman needs to devote in order to conquer the world’s highest peaks.

After two exciting days of picking up new ideas and motivations, making new friends, and meeting old friends from former tours, the participants departed, taking with them the memories of a unique and once-in-a-lifetime experience.
